Chinese murder fugitive arrested in Mombasa after assault incident

Police said preliminary checks revealed that the man was a fugitive facing serious criminal charges outside Kenya.
Security officials in Mombasa confirmed that Zheng is wanted in Tanzania in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Dar es Salaam in 2022.
He is also listed as wanted by Chinese authorities, with international agencies involved in tracking his movements.
Police sources said the suspect is currently in custody as authorities verify documents linked to the murder case and liaise with relevant agencies for further action. Investigations are ongoing, and officers said the suspect will be presented before the court.
According to a statement previously issued by the Dar es Salaam police, they have been searching for Zheng over the killing of Fu Nannan, 26, a fellow Chinese national.
The incident is reported to have occurred on June 11, 2022, at about 11:45 pm along Kalenga Street in Ilala, Dar es Salaam. Police said the suspect allegedly went to the third floor of a residential building where the deceased was living and shot him dead.
In the same incident, Zheng is also accused of shooting a woman identified as Nie Mnqin in the stomach. She was admitted to Muhimbili National Hospital for treatment.
Tanzanian police said preliminary investigations indicated the shooting was linked to a love triangle and personal disagreements.
Authorities noted that efforts to arrest the suspect had continued since the incident, with regional and international cooperation involved.
Kenyan police said more details will be released as investigations and consultations with foreign law enforcement agencies progress.
